It’s Southwest to Texas
Hello and happy Tuesday everybody.
First, a super big thanks to everyone that came out to Rascal’s
on Friday! It was another successful night thanks to all of you. It was
nice to hear from the owner that after having bands for over a year and
a half, we are the most successful band when it comes to drawing a crowd
and entertaining the locals. The only bad news about that is, because
none of the other bands are creating a buzz, they’re reconsidering
whether they want to continue live entertainment on weekends or not. We’re
in the process of working out a deal to remain as the single band performing
at Rascal’s.
I will be heading southwest towards Texas this weekend for a six week
road trip with my dad. We will be living out of his van, which is equipped
with a small stove, fridge, furnace, and enough room for two. He’s
eighty one years old, and though we’ve done this once before, this
will probably be the last time he will be physically capable of doing
it again. I don’t like taking six weeks off from the band, but I
owe him this trip. When I needed to completely change my life and get
back into music, his financial support made it possible for me to do it.
Without it, there would be no CD, no band, no shows, and I wouldn’t
be writing this message. I consider myself very lucky for that, and making
this trip is part of my way to pay him back and say ‘thanks.’
On the trip I will have my guitar, CD player, cell phone, and laptop to
keep the music and business rolling. Brian and I will continue booking
and planning 2008, and there’s much to look forward to. We received
great feedback about having Barbara Holleck on back up vocals, and it’s
going to be a great addition to have her on board full time in 2008. She’s
excited about it and so are we. It’s another dimension to the music
that we’ve been missing. We’re also going to have another
guitar player join us for a few songs this Thursday at our show at JD
Muggs. If that goes well, we may have our final missing dog.
Upon my return, I intend to be busier than I ever have with this. There
are four videos that we need to get done, and we will! Recording for the
next CD is also going to begin. The websites are going to be overhauled
and revamped (which is happening right now). The repertoire is going to
reach the three hour mark, and the Invisible Dogs and I are going to be
howling louder, harder, faster, and more often than we ever have.
Thanks again for all of your support everybody. I’ll be in touch
from somewhere on the road.
John
