Geronimo Lives
Hey there again everybody, it’s almost Friday…Yeah!!
In case it seemed like I was being a bit hard on the club owner at Rascal’s
in my last message, I thought I would balance it out just a bit. In all
fairness to him, it was a really crappy thing the city of Lagrange Park
did by ripping up the street without warning their local businesses. And
doing it on a Friday? I don’t blame.. uh… I’ll call
him Lou… I don’t blame Lou for being pissed off about it;
I just wish he would have shown a little more appreciation for our side
of things. We go through a lot to prepare for and put on a show, and a
little gratitude would be nice. Who knows, maybe next time he’ll
actually be happy to see us!
On a different subject, for those of you who are animal lovers, it’s
time for an animal story. I discovered a baby squirrel in my garage a
couple of weeks ago, and he didn’t look like he was doing very well.
After watching it for a bit, I concluded that it wasn’t injured,
but it was way too young to be out of its nest. Between the car tires
blazing down my alley and cats prowling around the neighborhood, I didn’t
think he had much of a chance.
I took it upon myself to increase his chances of survival by putting him
in a giant box in my apartment and affectionately calling him Geronimo.
He wined and dined on the recommended diet of nuts, bananas, carrots,
and lettuce. Hmmmm…sounds a bit like what I eat (for those of you
who don’t know, I am a vegetarian). All though it was a little tempting
to make a pet out of him, when I heard him trying to jump out of the box
and saw him on his hind legs looking around as if to say, “how do
I get the hell out of here?” I decided it was time to let him go.
I would like to tell you that he seemed thankful for my two weeks of hospitality
when I let him go, but he ran like a bat out of hell when I released him
and didn’t look back. Ungrateful runt...you’re going to miss
those gourmet meals...watch out for tires and cats…
To those who find squirrels nothing more than
glorified rats, you probably won’t be too impressed, for others,
well, he was a cute little shit.
Have a great weekend,
John
