05/05/07Shocked Mom RocksGreetings everyone and happy Tuesday. Instead of talking about up coming gigs and news, today I’m going to talk about a gig gone by, specifically last Saturday at the Note. Two of the main ingredients for a good gig are musicians who are on top of the game and an audience who is wrapped up in the game with them. First the band-- we were fortunate to have the addition of Michael Charles for the show, and Michael, who has toured as a sideman for Chicago’s legendary Buddy Guy gave us just the edge we needed to push the band over the top, and over the top we went. Brian aka NatureDevil—first class nut and bass player, never needs much of an excuse and he was the first to go. With a wireless bass and Michael’s wailing guitar motivating him, Brian covered just about every inch of the club by jumping off the stage into the audience. He went from the front to the back all the way around, and yes, even into the bathroom. I personally think he should have gone into the women’s bathroom instead of the men’s. I turned around to the drummer Mike Sabia who seemed to be thinking the same thing I was--- Holy shit! what’s going on here!??! Then we both made the same decision—when in Belgium do as the Belgians’s do, we joined Brian and Michael for the bash., and a bash it was. As for the audience, the many of you who came, thanks, thanks, thanks, and thanks again! The hollering, cheering, dancing, and sincere enthusiasm made the gig a first class blast. I can’t speak for Michael, Brian, and Mike, but for me, this was probably the most fun, memorable, and best performance I’ve ever had, and you guys were a big part of the reason. Thanks to all of you, we also had enough votes to move on to round three at the legendary Double Door and you will be hearing from me as soon as I know the date. Now for the shocked mom that rocks - though Metallica, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Killers, and all the hip cool bands around the world would probably never be so uncool as to say that their mom came to a gig, mine was there and she rocks!!. At age 76 she will be heading into the studio to record her first four song EP. Here is her quote about the show - “I was shocked” so why was she shocked? Well, it wasn’t because I took off any of my clothes, she saw plenty of that years ago and not much has changed. Truth is, I’m not going tell you why, you’ll have to wonder about that one. Sorry, some things need to remain a mystery. On behalf of me and the Invisible Dogs, thanks again
to everyone who came!!! Have a great week.
